York Regional Police Increase Patrols and Deploy Command Post During Passover
York Regional Police are increasing patrols and deploying a Command Post at strategic locations in Vaughan as members of the community observe Passover.
York Regional Police will be increasing patrols and deploying a Command Post at various locations in the coming days. This initiative coincides with the observance of Passover by members of the community.
Officers may be visible near places of worship, community centers, other gathering places, and in neighborhoods. Police on patrol and at the Command Post will be available to address questions, take reports, and respond to resident concerns.
York Regional Police stated they are working with community groups and faith leaders to support local events, services, and celebrations. They are also collaborating with community safety, law enforcement, and intelligence partners at municipal, provincial, and federal levels to monitor the situation and prevent hate-motivated activity.
The Command Post will be deployed at the JCC Vaughan Jewish Community Centre, Garnet A Williams Community Centre, and Promenade Mall on various dates from April 1 to April 9, operating from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
