We believe in the power of community. Our mission is to connect residents with the vibrant events happening in their neighborhoods – from farmers’ markets and festivals to art shows, concerts, workshops, and everything in between.

What We Do

Who’s Behind York Happening

York Happening is independently built and maintained by a longtime York Region resident who got tired of finding out about great local events after they happened. It exists to give the region’s six fast-growing communities a single, reliable place to see what’s on.

How We Curate Events

Every listing on York Happening goes through the same process:

  1. Collection: Events are gathered daily from trusted local sources — public libraries, municipalities, community centres, and local organizations across York Region.
  2. Review: Listings are checked for accuracy, completeness, and relevance before publishing. We verify dates, venues, and pricing against the organizer’s own posting.
  3. Updates: Listings are refreshed daily. Events that are cancelled or rescheduled by their organizers are updated or removed.

We don’t accept payment for placement: events are listed because they’re genuinely happening in the community, not because someone paid for visibility.
