York Regional Police (YRP) Counter Exploitation Unit investigators have charged a Whitchurch-Stouffville man with human trafficking and child sexual abuse and exploitation material offenses. This is part of an ongoing investigation.

The investigation began on April 1, 2026, when the Peterborough Police Service started an investigation into a missing female youth. The youth was seen entering a grey sedan. YRP investigators were contacted to assist in locating the vehicle, which was believed to be in the Whitchurch-Stouffville area.

On April 2, 2026, the vehicle was found at a Whitchurch-Stouffville residence. Investigators entered the residence, and the youth was located safely. A 47-year-old man was charged. Search warrants were executed at two residences associated with the man after his arrest. Investigators have released his photo.
