Three Charged in Markham Kidnapping Conspiracy

York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit investigators have charged three suspects following a conspiracy to commit a kidnapping in Markham. On Thursday, May 21, 2026, investigators became aware of a suspicious incident near Masseyfield Gate and Steeles Avenue. Officers determined a tracking device had been attached to a vehicle in a plaza, and an individual associated with the vehicle was believed to be targeted for a kidnapping.

Investigators identified a suspect vehicle, which was observed at the plaza on May 22, 2026. Following a foot pursuit, two suspects were apprehended. Officers recovered a quantity of a controlled substance, believed to be fentanyl, and Canadian currency. A third suspect was identified through ongoing investigation and taken into custody on May 27, 2026. The investigation is ongoing.
