Three Charged After Markham Extortion Investigation

York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit investigators have charged three suspects in connection with an extortion investigation in Markham. On June 13, 2026, police responded to a residence near Prince William Drive and Swansea Road after a report of three suspicious males. Three masked suspects were at the residence and demanded to speak with the victim.

Officers located and arrested the three suspects in front of the residence. One suspect was found to be in possession of a replica firearm. The investigation determined the incident was linked to an ongoing extortion, and investigators believe an individual was being targeted for a kidnapping. The investigation is ongoing.
