Suspect Charged in Vaughan Assault

A Mississauga man has been charged following an assault with an aerosol irritant in Vaughan.

York Regional Police have charged a suspect after a woman was assaulted with an aerosol irritant in Vaughan. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at approximately 7:55 p.m., in the area of Steeles Avenue West and New Westminster Drive. Officers responded to a weapons call after an unknown male approached a female victim at a community event, had a brief interaction, and then sprayed her with an aerosol irritant before fleeing.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On June 11, 2026, Scott KYNNERSLEY, 41, of Mississauga, was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Breach of a Weapons Prohibition Order, and Fail to Comply with Probation. At the time of the offense, KYNNERSLEY was on probation and subject to a weapons prohibition order for unrelated offenses.
