Suspect Charged in Synagogue Shootings in Vaughan and Toronto
A suspect has been charged in connection with shootings at synagogues in Vaughan and Toronto that occurred in March 2026.
York Regional Police, in collaboration with the Toronto Police Service, have charged a suspect following shootings at synagogues in Vaughan and Toronto. The incidents took place in March 2026.
On Friday, March 6, 2026, before midnight, gunshots were reported near Clark Avenue West and York Hill Boulevard in Vaughan. York Regional Police officers found damage to the front doors of a synagogue consistent with gunfire. Two occupants inside the synagogue were not injured.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, March 7, 2026, Toronto Police Service officers responded to reports of gunshots at a synagogue near Bathurst Street and Glencairn Avenue. Officers observed damage to the synagogue’s front entrance from gunfire. No one was inside, and no injuries were reported.
The suspect was 17 years old at the time of the offense and is not being named. The investigation is ongoing.
