Registered Massage Therapist Charged with Sexual Assaults in Aurora and Newmarket
A Newmarket Registered Massage Therapist faces two sexual assault charges following investigations in Aurora and Newmarket, with police seeking additional victims.
York Regional Police Special Victims Unit investigators have charged a Registered Massage Therapist with two counts of sexual assault. The charges follow an investigation in Aurora and Newmarket.
On April 8, 2026, a victim attended a massage appointment at a wellness clinic near Yonge Street and Edward Street. During the massage, the suspect reportedly touched the victim for a sexual purpose. Augusto OLIVEIRA CUNHA, 52, of Newmarket, was charged with one count of sexual assault the following day.
On May 21, 2026, a second victim reported being sexually assaulted by the suspect at the same clinic. This victim had attended a massage appointment on April 4, 2026. OLIVEIRA CUNHA was charged with an additional count of sexual assault on June 4, 2026.
Investigators have released the suspect's image and state he was employed at several wellness clinics in Aurora and Newmarket. They believe there may be additional victims.
