Project Golden Frog Leads to Cocaine and Cash Seizures
An investigation by York Regional Police and the Canada Border Services Agency resulted in six arrests and the seizure of cocaine and cash.
Investigators with the York Regional Police Complex Investigations Unit, in partnership with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), have charged six suspects following Project Golden Frog. This investigation focused on cocaine trafficking in York Region and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The investigation began in May 2026, after the CBSA intercepted a shipment from Panama containing a substance believed to be cocaine. York Regional Police continued the investigation, linking the shipment to a suspect with ties to Kitchener.
On June 11, 2026, three suspects were taken into custody, and a search warrant in Kitchener led to the seizure of $2.5 million in cash. On June 17, 2026, additional search warrants in Kitchener resulted in two more arrests and the seizure of a substance believed to be cocaine and additional currency. The final suspect was taken into custody on June 23, 2026.
In total, investigators seized 260 kilograms of cocaine, with an approximate street value of $20 million.
