Project Fortis Leads to Charges in Residential Break-and-Enter Investigation

A four-month investigation by York Regional Police has resulted in charges against 33 individuals for over 330 criminal offenses related to residential break-and-enters.

Investigators with the York Regional Police Integrated Property Crime Task Force (IPCTF) and York Regional Police District Criminal Investigation Bureaus (CIB) conducted a four-month investigation, named Project Fortis. This investigation focused on residential break-and-enters in York Region.

Between November 1, 2025, and March 1, 2026, the IPCTF and District CIB investigators targeted crime groups involved in break-and-enters across York Region and the Greater Toronto Area. The investigation has led to 337 charges against 33 individuals, linked to more than 125 residential break-and-enters.

Over $2 million worth of valuables were recovered during the investigation. Some recovered items have been returned to their owners, while others remain unclaimed. Photos of recovered items are available for victims of residential break-and-enters that occurred between November 2025 and March 2026 to review.
