Investigators from the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect in a jewelry theft in Newmarket. The incident occurred on June 1, 2026, when a suspect entered a jewelry store near Yonge Street and Davis Drive. The suspect reportedly asked to try on a gold chain, then fled the store on foot while wearing it. The individual was last seen on Davis Drive.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5’9” tall, with a medium build, short brown hair, and a brown goatee. At the time of the incident, he was seen wearing a black T-shirt with white lettering, black pants, a black-and-white baseball cap, and black-and-white shoes.
