One Man Charged, Two Suspects Sought in Markham Carjacking

York Regional Police have charged one man and are seeking two additional suspects following a carjacking in Markham in March 2026.

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged one man and are seeking two additional suspects in connection with a carjacking that occurred in Markham in March 2026.

On March 3, 2026, at 11:43 p.m., officers responded to reports of a carjacking at Warden Avenue and Highway 407. The victim's vehicle was struck from behind, and when the victim exited, two suspects assaulted the victim. These two suspects then fled in the victim’s vehicle, while a third suspect operated the suspect vehicle, described as a white sedan. The victim sustained minor injuries.

The victim’s vehicle was recovered the following day in Mississauga. Through investigation, Waheed RAHMATI, 22, of no fixed address, was identified as a suspect. He was charged on June 4, 2026, with Robbery, Disguise with Intent, and two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. RAHMATI was already in custody for unrelated offences when he was charged. The two additional suspects were described as wearing dark face coverings and dark clothing. The investigation is ongoing.
