Man Charged in Markham Robbery, Police Seek Additional Victims

York Regional Police have charged a man following a robbery in Markham and are appealing for other potential victims to come forward.

York Regional Police Human Trafficking Unit investigators are seeking additional victims after a man was charged in connection with the robbery of a sex trade worker in Markham.

On Friday, June 16, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence near McCowan Road and Bur Oak Avenue for a robbery report. The suspect reportedly attended the residence to obtain sexual services, then demanded cash and threatened the victim with a knife. Officers located and took the suspect into custody at the residence.

Yousif Babiker, 25, of no fixed address, has been charged with Armed Robbery, Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration, and two counts of Fail to Comply with a Judicial Release Order. At the time of the offense, Babiker was on house arrest with conditions prohibiting weapon possession.

York Regional Police are releasing a photo of the suspect, believing there may be additional victims, and encourage anyone with information to contact police.
