Man Charged in Markham Assault
A man has been charged following an assault on a youth aboard a York Region Transit bus in Markham.
York Regional Police have charged a man in connection with an assault that occurred on a York Region Transit bus in Markham. The incident took place on Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 7:20 a.m., near Yonge Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard.
An adult male reportedly approached and assaulted a female youth. The victim did not sustain physical injuries.
On Friday, May 1, 2026, Abi Ilyas, 40, of no fixed address, was charged with one count of assault. Investigators have released his photo, stating they believe there may be additional victims. Police are encouraging anyone with information to contact them.
