Four Suspects Charged in York Region Break-and-Enter Investigation
York Regional Police have charged four suspects in connection with 20 residential break-and-enters as part of Project Towns, an investigation into break-ins across York Region and the Greater Toronto Area.
Investigators with the York Regional Police Integrated Property Crime Task Force (IPCTF) have charged four suspects in connection with 20 residential break-and-enters. This is part of Project Towns, an investigation focused on combatting break-ins across York Region.
IPCTF launched an investigation in April 2026 into a series of break-and-enters across York Region and the Greater Toronto Area. Suspects reportedly entered residences through rear basement glass doors, targeting cash, high-end clothing, jewellery, and firearms. The investigation identified an organized crime-tourism group as responsible for at least 20 residential break-and-enters in York Region.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at approximately 10 p.m., police responded to a residential break-and-enter near Clark Avenue and Dufferin Street in Vaughan. IPCTF investigators and the #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau located a suspect vehicle, and three suspects were taken into custody.
Search warrants were executed at residences in Toronto and Mississauga, and property was recovered. A Dropbox folder has been set up with photos of unclaimed items. Victims of residential break-and-enters between January 2026 and May 2026 are asked to review the photos and contact police if any items belong to them. A process to verify ownership will be required before property collection. The investigation is ongoing.
