Fatal Single-Vehicle Collision in East Gwillimbury

York Regional Police are seeking witnesses after a single-vehicle collision in East Gwillimbury resulted in one fatality and four serious injuries.

York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses following a fatal single-vehicle collision in East Gwillimbury. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., near the intersection of Doane Road and Leslie Street.

The vehicle, traveling westbound on Doane Road, left the roadway, went down an embankment, and entered a pond area. Five teenagers were in the vehicle.

One occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene. Four other occupants were transported to the hospital in stable condition with serious injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are asking for witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage from the area around the time of the collision, to come forward.
