Writing Micro Fiction and Author Talk with Michael Talledes

Want to write but don't have the time? Write micro fiction! In this program, we will be creating a story of 100 words or less. Author Michael Talledes will lead this workshop and explore strategies to be able to tackle the core challenge of micro fiction, being able to tell a story with a very limited word count. Michael will also be discussing his new novel, Shadows of the Unknowns.

About the Author
Michael Talledes is a Canadian fiction writer currently residing in Markham, Ontario. Shadows of the Unknowns marks his debut novel in the young adult genre. Michael is the author of other young adult pieces such as No Road to Tokyo, The Stone of Mystoria, Crocodile Passage, and Angel. Michael has published numerous short stories and flash fiction pieces in literary journals across Canada, the United States and Europe. Michael graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2014 where he majored in Law and Business and had taken courses in Creative Writing. Michael lives with his wife and two daughters and is also a competitive endurance runner.

About the Book: Shadows of the Unknowns
Nearly five years after the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic, the world faces a new unprecedented threat. When a UFO is shot down into the hot sands of the Grand Canyon for flying in United States aerospace, it is up to lead American Scientist Dr. Galen Samford and U.S. Sergeant Forrest Regal, to determine the motive behind the unknown’s arrival.
After a sinister warning is cast to both men threatening the demise of the human race, the unknown exposes another plot brewing within the walls of their own government: a plan to assassinate the President of the United States. As the lines between who to trust and who to fear blur, Dr. Samford desperately turns to his 18-year-old daughter, Emily Samford and her four friends, Ethan, Tyler, Darrion and Samantha for help. Preparing to embark on their grade 12 graduation trip, the teens plans are derailed as they are brought into a war none were prepared to fight.
