Civil Engineering: Earthquake-Resistant Tower Challenge

Does your child enjoy building, experimenting, and solving hands-on challenges? In this civil engineering-focused session, participants will work in small teams to design and construct a tower that can withstand simulated earthquake conditions. Using simple materials, students will explore how engineers design structures that are strong, stable, and resilient. Throughout the challenge, they will test, improve, and redesign their towers as they learn what makes a structure stand up to real-world forces.

Learning Outcomes
• Identify and apply basic engineering design principles such as stability, balance, and structural strength in a building challenge.
• Build, test, and improve the design of a prototype

Participants: Children aged 8 - 13 years old

Note: Please sign up for each of the four sessions for your child(ren) to be able to attend all four unique sessions in this program series.
