About This Event
Aerospace Engineering: Landing Rockets!
In this workshop, students will explore the challenges of spacecraft landings by designing and testing a protective landing system for a model rocket carrying a delicate payload. Using the Engineering Design Process, participants will investigate forces, stability, and energy absorption
while building, testing, and improving their designs through multiple landings. Discover how aerospace engineers design systems that enable safe landings on other planets
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the role of landing systems for spacecrafts
- Identify and apply basic engineering design principles such as momentum, energy, drag, and absorption in a building challenge.
- Build, test, and improve the design of a rocket prototype
Participants: Children aged 8 - 13 years old
Note: Please sign up for each of the four sessions for your child(ren) to be able to attend all four unique sessions in this program series.
